SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya, Aug. 11 (PIA) — The Department of Health (DOH) yesterday praised blood donors in Cagayan Valley and Ifugao for sharing their assistance to save lives in various hospitals and medical centers.
Close to a hundred awardees from the provinces of Quirino, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya and southern Isabela were given plaque of recognitionand certificates of appreciation by the DOH through the Southern Blood Services Zone Network (SBSZN).
The awards were given during the 1stZonal Sandugo Awards at the Highlander Hotel and Resort in this town.
Dr. Nathanael Vidad, SBSZN president said the event was aimed at recognizing the admirable endeavors of the different government and non-government institutions, along with distinguished individuals for supporting the blood program and services.
“This is a show of our gratitude and appreciation for our blood heroes from Cagayan Valley who continue to provide their own blood to save lives. We hope that morevolunteer blood donors will do the same to sustain our blood banks,” he said.
Vidad said the SBSZN was formed a few years ago by the DOH to expand the network of volunteer blood donors in the region.
He added thatthe SBSZN has been a big help in sustaining the supply of fresh blood in blood banks for the needy, especially the poor patients.
“We are encouraging others to become a volunteer blood donor so that we can sufficiently sustain our blood banks,” he added. (MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
