Many people with bipolar disorder struggle with self-loathing. Maybe the self-loathing starts as the depressive phase does with all sorts of awful thoughts about yourself. Because that’s how depression works: It outright lies, and inflicts pain.
You can’t do anything right. You’re an abject failure. You’re also stupid. And worthless, and no one will ever really love you for you. You are not attractive or thin or strong enough. You are weak, and you are an embarrassment.
Maybe it happens after a manic or hypomanic episode, because you feel terrible about what you did or said during that time. And the regret, remorse and shame turn into self-hatred.
Maybe the self-loathing lingers always, swimming under the surface, or “simmering at a low temperature,” as clinical psychologist Cynthia G. Last, PhD, said. Last specializes in treating individuals with bipolar disorder in Boca Raton, Fla.
“If I’m being ‘real,’ I always hate myself,” said Gabe Howard, a writer and speaker who has bipolar I disorder. “Nothing I ever do is good enough. It doesn’t matter what I achieve, I will always find a way to tear it down…”
“It’s worse when I actually fail—like if a project goes poorly, or like when I was going through my divorces. It’s worse when I’m depressed.”
When people compliment Howard, he assumes they’re making fun of him. He reques…

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) are widely used drugs that have a narrow therapeutic index. Even minor overdoses must be treated in-hospital due to the risk of severe hypotension and bradycardia. We aimed to describe trends in CCB use and overdoses in Denmark.
METHODS: Data on enquiries concerning CCBs reported to the Danish Poisons Information Center (DPIC) from January 2009 to January 2015 was coupled with data on hospitalization and mortality obtained from Danish Na…

However, a problem with the research on the significance of anxiety in depressed patients is that anxiety has been characterized in different ways. Little research has examined the concordance and overlap between the various definitions of anxious depression. With research on the DSM-5 anxious distress specifier just beginning, it will be important to understand how defining anxious depression accordi…

Pearlson, Ifat Levy, Ilan Harpaz-Rotem, Christopher PittengerAbstractAnhedonia is a transdiagnostic construct that can occur independent of other symptoms of depression; its role in neuropsychiatric disorders that are not primarily affective, such as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), hoarding disorder (HD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has received limited attention. This paper addresses this gap. First, the d…

We describe a patient presenting acute heart failure due to obliteration of the bilateral coronary arteries and pulmonary arteries with Takayasu’s arteritis undergoing surgical correction. The diseased vessels provoked chest pain and severe dyspnea. Urgent surgical correction successfully resolved heart failure by coronary artery bypass graft using bilateral in situ internal thoracic arteries and by patch winding of the left pulmonary artery. Surgical relieving obliterated vessels with Takayasu’ arteritis is an effective therapy for a patient presenting severe heart failure.

The SN complex-ions absolutely incorporate into the lattice of BNKT matrix to form perovskite structure. The gr…
