What are the foods that I should be eating? This is probably the first question you ask when starting a diet. You most likely won’t be able to have a hardy meal ready for you when you arrive home daily. When you are a very active person the most probable thing you do is stop off at a fast food spot or go out to a restaurant. This will only add to the difficulties of staying on your diet and losing weight.
However, it will be easier than you realize to eat properly with a low to moderate carb eating diet plan.
Hard to believe but the easiest place to eat is your home where you can control what is available. What you don’t want to do is have the tempting snacks, sweets, cookies, pastries, doughnuts, breads and pasta rich foods at home and end up breaking down to the temptations.
To be safe and in control it would be wise to have a low carb sweet on hand just in case the craving gets too tempting. This will help to stay away from the really bad stuff and, at least, satisfy that occasional craving. Women seem to have their worst cravings of chocolate or sweets during their menstrual cycle so it is especially important for them to have a snack handy. By just having that low carb snack on hand and staying away from a sugar binge you have saved all that hard work you have already went through on your diet.
Believe it or not but there are a bunch of low carb treats and recipes out there. If cooking is something that you like to do make some low carb chocolate or peanut butter cookies. Make a low carb cheesecake pudding or sugar free jello with whipped cream will provide a quick snack. Also, to curb that sweet tooth is strawberries and cream or sugar free fudgesicles and popsicles, keep these items on hand in the freezer.
You need to realize that just because it is alright to eat on your weight loss plan that when you eat too much of anything can cause you to fail or begin putting on weight again. Beware, many sugar free products contain a substance that eventually will put weight on you if enough is eaten. For example, the natural sugar in sugar free ice cream is still present in small amounts from the milk. Allowing yourself to eat unlimited amounts of this ice cream will surely start boosting your weight again slowly.
No matter where you are, at home or on the road you need to eat. What you need is vegetables and some meat. Find a place where you can order a large salad with some meat varieties, low carb cheese and vegetables in it. By not putting on the croutons will provide you with a delicious healthy satisfying low carb meal.
However, if you are not in the mood for a salad- no problem. Choose a seafood plate, a nice grilled steak or a nice big salmon. but always leave off the breading which provides all the carbs and you will be able to eat to your fulfillment. What about the side dishes you ask. Request a double serving of vegetables, a salad or some cottage cheese. But stay away from the potatoes, french fries or any other starchy food.
Now let us face fast food. Here the main thing is breading which you want to avoid. If you are in a restaurant just ask for the hamburger without the bun, if that is not your style then order the regular hamburger without mayo and ask for a fork. Take off the bun and eat just the vegetables and meat only.
Besides ordering a salad try grilled chicken or fish. Now avoid the various potato offerings and soda, substitute water with a meal which is better for you anyway. These items will fill you without all the starches, sugars or carbohydrates as you would have normally got.
