Start to Lose Weight – Exercise

Many of us live our lives without much movement, mostly sitting around in offices or on the couch. We are built to be physically active but too often we put ourselves in a cage. While our bodies were built for running, hunting, and physical labour, we tend to spend too much of our time not moving at all. Often our exercise consists mostly of walking to and from the refrigerator. It is no wonder that we have many over weight individuals in our society.

This has not always been the case. About two generations ago in the United States, a person who labored on a farm did the equivalent of 16 miles of walking every day; while his wife did the equivalent of 6 miles of walking. This regular exercise increased their life spans, kept them fit, and kept illness away.

While our modern society has brought many benefits, there has been a terrible downside: We don’t exercise nearly enough, and thus we are over weight.

This goes to show that our obesity epidemic is not only cause by poor diet, but more importantly a lack of exercise.

Many people are looking for quick fixes for their weight problem. However, an occasional jog or trip to the gym is not enough. We must make drastic changes to our lifestyle. We must eat healthier and incorporate exercise into every facet of our daily routine.

Weight loss is not something that you are likely to maintain without including exercise as a part of your overall weight loss program. While this may seem like an overwhelming problem, do not worry. There are many ways you can include exercise into your daily life.

1. Get a quality and restful sleep.

Make sure that you get proper sleep. Having good and restful sleep will give you more energy during the day. With this new energy, you will need to eat less, and exercising will be easier to do. In a addition, people who exercise regularly tend to require less sleep and will have far less fatigue during the day.

2. Walk, just that simple.

This is the most simple exercise one can do to lose weight, improve health, and increase energy. A brisk walk of 30 minutes every other day will not only improve your physical health, but will also improve your mental well being. Once you start a regular walking routine, wether it be to the store, work, or just walking the dog, it will be hard to stop. You will feel the benefits immediately.

3. Walk the treadmill.

In colder climates, or just poor weather, you may not want to go out for a walk. This is an ideal time to use the treadmill. If you are fortunate enough to have a treadmill in the TV room, you can catch up on you can catch up on the days news, or just take in your favorite program while burning calories.

4. Take Action!

There is no excuse to not get enough exercise. You can incorporate it into your daily life very easily. It is something you don’t have to do alone, you can take the family with you. Diet pills will help you lose weight, but they will not make you healthy. You must use every tool at your disposal to lose the weight, and eventually there will be no looking back.

Finally, just one last thing to remember:

Don’t stop, don’t give up. When you lead a healthy life, you will not only burn calories when you are walking or running, the benefits will keep going long after you get home. Your increased metabolism will keep on running all throughout the day and night.
