Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)

What is it?

This is a very painful disorder that affects the flexible tissues around the shoulder capsule, this is the tissue that surrounds the glenohumeral joint of the shoulder. There are 3 stages with this condition: the first is called the "freezing", the 2nd, the "frozen" and the 3rd is called the "thawing". These are stages of worsening pain and gradual loss of movement. After a while it will ease up but there will be an on-going stiffness, and then, finally the shoulder slowly comes back to normal functioning. You can expect each phase to last for about four months

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms include stiffness and inflammation. Motion is restricted and it causes chronic pain. The pain can worsen when the weather is colder and of course at night causing sleep issues. This can also cause problems in the back and neck, and can also cause cramping and certain movements can trigger a lot of pain.

What are the causes?

It can be caused by strain or an injury to the shoulder area, and in some cases the condition can last from 4 months to more than 3 years. This condition can also come on spontaneously (idiopathic frozen shoulder) and can be linked to rheumatism, lung or breast surgery. Another cause is a lack of synovial fluid between the shoulder blade socket and the upper arm bone.

How to make it better: Go to an organic, natural diet, no toxins, and put your focus on foods that heal, such as onions, garlic, tomatoes, sea salt, digestive enzymes and vegetable juices. And cayenne pepper will cause you to sweat, good way to allow the body to begin releasing the toxins. Then you should start a cleansing program. It is the liver cleanse that you really want to do, but you should start with the parasite cleanse, then the kidney cleanse and then the liver. This is the preferred method. And if you really want to cleanse thoroughly start with the bowel cleanse, and include the metal cleanse.

The liver cleanse is especially important. If too many toxins accumulate in the body the liver can become slow to function and sluggish. A liver cleanse can help with back pain, clearing up acne, it will help to reduce your cholesterol, and help with psoriasis, allergies, eczema, gallstones, asthma, shoulder pain, abdominal pain, upper back and arm pain, gallstad, gallbladder pain , liver pain, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, heartburn, bloating, IBS, constipation, cancer, AIDS, MS, epilepsy, Alzheimer's, osteoporosis Parkinson's and more. The liver cleanse is very important and should be done more than once. You will see hundreds of gallstones in the toilet when you do this. You will be amazed!

Many patients have had good results with the use of ice. Wrap up some crushed ice in a towel and put it to the front of the shoulder for about 10 minutes. Do this as often as possible and include a 10-minute resting period. Do not apply the ice directly to the skin it could cause scarring and a browning of the skin, and use it on the shoulder where you have pain.

In the early stages of this condition a warm bath or heat packs can bring relief. And then alternating between ice and heat is also beneficial.

Massage therapy and a routine of stretching is very helpful. Exercise should be gentle, and even better do the exercise in a swimming pool or Jacuzzi.

You can use a pillow underneath the shoulder while lying on your back to bring some relief for sleeping. Also it will be helpful to sleep on the bodies' good side with the pillow between your waist and the bad shoulder.

For recovery the best position for the arm is to let it hang at the side of the body. Do not use a sling, it puts stress on your tendons.

To reduce inflammation you can use the essential oils of frankincense and / or Myrrh, lavender, Chamomile.

Herbs that will help are lemon balm, meadowsweet, Chamomile, licorice, John's wort, willow bark, wild yam and plantain, yarrow and sea cucumber. All have anti-inflammatory properties.
