Long Beach gives away infant care supplies to help families amid coronavirus pandemic – Press Telegram

Long Beach families with young children got a little help from the city on Friday, Nov. 13.

Officials hosted giveaways of infant care supplies, including diapers, formula and baby wipes, at school sites and parks throughout the city on Friday, a service that Long Beach has funded with nearly $250,000 from federal CARES Act money.

“The pandemic has had a significant impact on many of our local families and some are struggling to meet basic needs,” Mayor Robert Garcia said in a statement last month, when the program was announced. “This distribution of infant care items will alleviate some of those stressors and help take care of our city’s youngest residents.”

The giveaways will continue on Fridays, with the exception of holiday weeks. Information: mayorsfundfored.org/covid19-response.
